As a judge again in the 2017 Tablelands Folk Festival Songwriter competition, I have to say that the quality of entries was of a very high standard with some fantastic songs. It with a very close result at the finish line. Along with Bob Elliston, Aleta Tulk and Jeanette Wormald the judging of this year's competition took place at Saint Mark's Church over two sessions - the morning session for the Emerging Category and the afternoon session for the Open Category and Best Song was selected as an overall from both categories. The fabulous sponsorship for this year's competition continued with Buzz Music, McGinty's Irish Bar, Atherton Trophies and Cairns Voice Studio all providing excellent prizes for our winners.

The Tablelands Folk Festival weekend event at Yungaburra highlighted performances from local, regional, interstate and international acts. The festival was well attended with a great positive vibe from all who participated - performers, volunteers, organisers and attendees.

The Festival provided non-stop music on multiple stages over the weekend. Festival favourites also included Poets Brekky, free Children's Festival & Parade, Wellbeing Fair, Market Stalls, the famous Pub Verandah non-stop Jams along with the songwriter competition.
