Thoughts from the Songwriters:
Jim and Shirl have been collaborating together for many years now... finally this album has come to fruition highlighting some of the early creative work they produced together. Such has been pivotal to future aspirations.
Recording this album at Tonic Sound, Yorkeys Knob with Peter Grayson the effort and the learning curb is acknowledged for all three in the process. Pete did a fabulous job. The engagement with this project excellerated each us further toward greater levels of attainment just through having taken the action to develop the material that we did. Creative projects like this are the result of a solid commitment, highlighted by professional aspiration and respect for the role that we each play in actuating the outcome from such a simple possibility.
The CD features six (6) original tracks with easy listening vocal and instrumental flavours seasoned with slide, swing blues, country, pop and folk style influences.

No Matter What [Shirley Lynn & Jim McCabe]
This song seasoned with swing blues gets you in the mood for no matter what...
It's a bit of a fun tune that bring focus to the instrumental roll on the harmonica and the embellished development of the guitar solos.
Life can be a bit like that....
"No Matter What"... ya gotta just keep on going.
"No Matter What" - we still always need to make our own choices, we still need to decide who we are, what we're going to do and how we're going to do it. We still need to determine what will be our approach to life. Sometimes we need to be staunch and steadfast in our own commitment while sometimes we just need to be able to go with the flow.

Her Waves [Shirley Lynn & Jim McCabe]
This song is not about the waves in the ocean or the 'sound' waves invisible to our eyes. This song relates to the waves, cycles and biorhythms more particularly atuned to female cycles and emotional state contained therein.
If you're a female you'll be aware of your own biorhythms. If you're a male, you're more likely to have experienced the callibration and place where this may take you to. Well... this song relates to that state of being....
The following is just interesting....
Bioryhtyms and Cycles....
Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biorhythm
According to the theory of biorhythms, a person's life is influenced by rhythmic biological cycles that affect his or her ability in various domains, such as mental, physical and emotional activity. These cycles begin at birth and oscillate in a steady (sine wave) fashion throughout life, and by modeling them mathematically, it is suggested that a person's level of ability in each of these domains can be predicted from day to day. The theory is built on the idea that the biofeedback chemical and hormonal secretion functions within the body could show a sinusoidal behavior over time.
Most biorhythm models use three cycles: a 23-day physical cycle, a 28-day emotional cycle, and a 33-day intellectual cycle. Although the 28-day cycle is the same length as the average woman's menstrual cycle and was originally described as a "female" cycle, the two are not necessarily in any particular synchronization. Each of these cycles varies between high and low extremes sinusoidally, with days where the cycle crosses the zero line described as "critical days" of greater risk or uncertainty.

Stay Awhile [Shirley Lynn & Jim McCabe]
Sometimes when writing songs, our memory banks are drawn upon to gain inspiration for songs. This is one such song that taps into past experience bought to the fore and penned as a relationship song. The harmonies add strength to the the relationship calling of this song.
CHORUS: Won’t you stay a while - I love to see your smile
Won’t you stay a while – so we can talk it over
Won’t you stay awhile - again we can be lovers
Aah Aah Aah - sweet - sweet love

I’m a fool when it comes down to you
Maybe time will heal the pain

How it is to get through to you
You walked away with the strings to my heart
Here I wonder why we’re apart

New Tomorrow [Shirley Lynn & Jim McCabe]
Inspired by the journey of our forefathers, who left their homeland in days gone by to come out to Australia steps taken for a new beginning in their lives. They were here for a better life for themselves. With this journey there lies the realisation that many who travelled teh distance to get here may never have returned to their homeland or their loved ones. Such was the sacrifice that was made.
Research into family history also aligned the story to specific details and references like the following:
Shirley's great grandfather did migrate from England to Australia coming on
the ship Merkera which landed in Bowen from where John Shardlow then headed straight for the gold fields in Croydon where he settled, married had family and died at the very early age of 28 years.

For a place somewhere across the sea
Far beyond the horizon it seems
To dream, to dance and be free

With this journey we’ll make a new start
Carry us forth, let the wind blow
Fill our sails as we go into a - New Tomorrow

On our vessel Merkara we sail
Once docked in Bowen we’ll reset our course
